(Age 16) Harry:
And he was sad; not because it meant that he would get in trouble with his management for skipping the recording he was supposed to be at, and not because it meant he couldn’t be doing something else. He was sad because, when he saw you dance, he realised just how grown up you really were. And, all of a sudden, he wanted his baby sister back – the little girl who used to steal cookies from the cookie jar, even after he told you not to; the little girl who used to scream and giggle when he tickled her; the little girl who would never go to bed, not without him telling her a story and tucking her in at night.
He was sad, because his little sister was growing up too fast.
(Age 13) Liam:
And he wouldn’t, or rather couldn’t, stop cheering for you. He kept shouting, screaming at the top of his lungs, whistling, and gave a standing ovation at the end of your performance. This, naturally, earned him a few glares from agitated people in the audience, and bright red cheeks from you as you hurriedly rushed off of the stage after your dance, hoping that people wouldn’t realise you were related.
But, of course, your embarrassment did nothing to hush the older boy, and he continued to yell and cheer until security had to remove him.
Turns out Liam Payne really was a pain; at least, at your recital.
(Age 10) Zayn:
And he regretted coming; but not because of the hundreds of girls who kept harassing him, asking for photos and autographs, and not because of the girls sitting next to him, who kept screaming in his ear.
He regretted coming, because he knew that once the waterworks started, they wouldn’t stop. And he couldn’t help but cry as he watched you dance, because he was really, truly proud of you.
And, perhaps most importantly, he loved you, just as he loved all of his sisters.
(Age 18) Louis:
And he stayed up the night before, making a huge poster to hold up. He had spent hours on it, making sure it was perfect for the next day, because, after all, it was your day. With glitter all over it, and giant black letters spelling out, “Y/N IS THE BEST!”. The poster was massive, and you thought he had gone a little overboard, but apparently not.
After all, Louis was not one for subtleties.
(Age 15) Niall:
And he wouldn’t miss it for the world, so he had called management and told them he would be late to the recording studio, because no amount of punishment or torture his management could inflict was worth missing his baby sister’s dance recital.
And from the moment you stepped onto that stage, he was beaming from his seat, because he knew from the grin on your face when you spotted him in that audience, that he had made the right choice in staying and watching you dance – no matter what his management thought.
And, he was happy, putting away thoughts of what his management would do and say to him, ignoring them for the two and a half minutes you performed for, because this was your time – the time that, for once, didn’t have to revolve around him and his work and his band.
This was your spotlight, and he wasn’t going to steal it, because he knew how much it meant to you.
And he knew how much it meant to you that he was there.
